Beat the Heat with our NEW Islamorada Summer Shandy

We’re introducing this new brew to Lost Worlds guests on what we feel is the perfect occasion, our Block Party to kick-off the summer!! With temps slated in the mid-90s, Islamorada Summer Shandy is a delightful escape in a pint glass that transports you to sun-kissed shores, lazy afternoons and the moment when a community comes together to celebrate.

The Story behind the Name

The Islamorada sandbar is located just a pinch less than a mile offshore of Islamorada near Mile Marker 84. It can only be reached by boat, waverunner, kayak, or paddleboard. The water is crystal clear and so shallow you will see lounge chairs, barbecue grills, and beach umbrellas. On a warm summer day, hundreds of boats surround the sandbar creating a veritable beach.

The Translation to our Beer

A shandy is a wheat beer or light lager that is blended with lemonade or a lemon-lime soda. Originating in Britain, a shandy is a relaxing beverage for warm summer months. Over the last decade, the shandy has become a popular beer for the summer months – particularly for consumption on lakes or beaches.

Islamorada Shandy is the gentle ocean breeze. It’s a refreshing beer that takes you to that hammock in the shade with the scent of honeysuckle in the air.

Ingredients

At its heart lies a harmonious blend of White Wheat Malt, Pilsen Malt, and Acidulated Malt, meticulously selected to provide a smooth and balanced base for our shandy. The White Wheat Malt brings a soft, pillowy texture to the beer, while the Pilsen Malt adds a touch of sweetness and depth. Meanwhile, the Acidulated Malt contributes a gentle tartness, enhancing the beer's overall brightness and drinkability. But what truly sets this brew apart is the addition of fresh lemon zest, which infuses each sip with a burst of zesty citrus flavor and aroma. Sourced from the finest lemons, these vibrant zest notes dance across the palate, invigorating the senses and leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalized. To complement the lemon zest, we’ve selected two exceptional hop varieties: Lorien and Sorachi Ace. Lorien lends subtle floral and herbal notes, while Sorachi Ace contributes hints of lemon and dill, amplifying the citrusy character of the beer and adding layers of complexity to the flavor profile.
