Exploring Stinnes Helles Lager

Available on tap and in cans!

When we introduce a new beer in our taproom, a lot of planning goes into deciding on the perfect recipe that syncs with the season. When we landed on brewing a Lager, we opted to brew a Munich Helles. It’s the perfect summer beer; one of finesse with delicate grainy malt notes and a whisper of the noble Mittelfruh hop.

As all of our Adventure Series beers are named for Explorers, finding the perfect explorer to pair with this smooth and soft, yet subtly complex Helles Lager led us down a road well traveled. Enter Claramore (Clara) Stinnes, a German Race Car Driver. In May of 1927, Clara got behind the wheel of an Adler Standard 6 Automobile. For the next two years, Clara and a companion drove across Europe, through Asia, across multiple Pacific countries, across South America and up through the United States where she stopped briefly to meet President Herbert Hoover in Washington DC. From there, they traveled by ferry to Le Havre and arrived with their car in Berlin in June of 1929. Having traveled  29,000 miles, she became the first person to circumnavigate the world by car.
