Agatha Christie & Max Mallowan Photo

This picture depicts Agatha Christie and her second husband, Max Mallowan. Agatha is the world’s best-selling fiction writer with her novels selling over two billion copies. Her novel, And Then There Were None, is one of the top selling books of all times with over 100 million copies sold, but she is arguably best known for her books featuring the iconic detective Herule Poirot including Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. In 1930, she married the archaeologist Max Mallowan and spent several months every year on digs in the Middle East. Knowledge gained during these excavations figured prominently as the backdrop in many of her books. She passed away in January of 1976, but not before leaving a permanent mark on the mystery and crime genre.
