Flight Tips to Expand Your Craft Beer Palette
Beer flights are a great way to sample selections and narrow down your choice before you commit to a pint purchase. But how do you narrow a long list of tasty beers on tap to just four choices? Our Head Brewer, David Gonzalez, says the key is to be adventurous and step out of your craft beer comfort zone.
“At Lost Worlds we rotate our beers often to give our guests a variety of both traditional and seasonal brews,” says Gonzalez. “Beer flights are a great way to give something new a try.”
Gonzalez recommends tasting your selections from lightest to heaviest, which doesn’t always translate to color. To illustrate, we asked him to pour a “brewer’s flight” for you to try on your next visit, which includes:
Nebra Pilsner
Krakatoa Smoked Amber
Saturnalia Chocolate Stout
Lahaina DIPA
“Lahaina has a lot of hops and might overpower your senses, so although the stout is darkest, it’s not the heaviest — so it’s best to taste the DIPA last.”
Depending on your destination, you may want to try a Trier Berliner Weisse Flavor Flight. We serve this with fruit syrups to cut the tartness. Have a flight of traditional, along with mango, raspberry, blueberry or peach.
The bottom line is there’s no hard fast rules to choosing your flight, but if you need a hand with your itinerary, our Adventure Guides are here to help!
