Uncover the treasure of Charlotte’s history with GoldKrush IPA, a tribute to the region's gold rush roots

The Story behind the Name

Gold Rush in Charlotte began with the discovery of a large gold nugget on the farm of John Reed.  In 1799, Reed’s son, Conrad, found a large yellow rock in Little Meadow Creek on the Reed farm in Cabarrus County. Weighing in at 17 pounds, the family used it as a doorstop until they sold it to a jeweler for $3.50. The nuggets’ true value was around $3600. Shortly thereafter, Reed entered into a partnership with several other residents, and they launched the first venture to mine gold.

By 1835, the Charlotte region was known as the gold mining capital of the United States with over 80 mines operating in Mecklenburg County. In 1837, the Charlotte Mint was built in Charlotte and open for production. Several large mines operated just outside the boundaries of Uptown Charlotte and they employed over 1000 workers.

The Translation to our Beer

GoldKrush is a tangerine based IPA with a full body. With its citrus note and notes of blood orange, this is a beer for lively conversation.

Ingredients

Bursting with citrus and hints of the tropics, this IPA swirls with the essence of freshly zested tangerine and juicy blood orange. The backbone of pale ale malt, golden naked oats, and chit malt creates a pillowy, smooth texture, balancing each sip with gentle, earthy warmth. Idaho 7, Krush, and Saphir hops merge together, layering notes of ripe tangerines, resinous pine, and a bright, floral complexity that deepen as the flavors unfold. Fresh and radiant, each sip lingers with a touch of citrus.
