LOST WORLDS BREWING RAISES MONEY FOR UKRAINE; TAKES AIM AT PUTIN, FIGHTING AUTOCRACY ONE CROWLER AT A TIME
CORNELIUS, NC, March 17 – Lost Worlds Brewing is launching a campaign to raise money for Ukrainian refugees selling 32-ounce take-home crowlers that come with a new label featuring Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the words “Putin is a Dick” scrawled across his forehead. The effort is inspired by Lakefront Brewery, in Milwaukee, Wisc., who created the label in a show of solidarity with their friends at Pravda Brewing and the citizens of Ukraine.”
“What they were doing caught our attention, so we asked if they’d like some help raising money in the south,” says Dave Hamme, co-founder of Lost Worlds Brewing. “Within 24-hours, we modified their label, with permission, and it was at the printer while we were busy putting processes in place to begin selling and help aid this effort. Crowlers go on sale in Lost Worlds’ taproom at noon on Friday, March 18th.
The crowlers, which will go on sale starting at noon on Friday, March 18th, cost about $15 dollars each, depending on your choice 18 Basecamp and Adventure Series beers on tap. Lost Worlds will donate 50 percent of the proceed from each crowler to the National Bank of Ukraine’s Fund for Refugees.
According to Hamme, breweries have a way of uniting people. “This is a very collaborative industry where it’s not uncommon to band together to help people in need and share what we’re all thinking – that this is Putin’s war, and well, pretty much everyone thinks he’s a dick.”
“We hoped this would catch on with other breweries and are happy that Lost Worlds is tapping into the effort,” said Andy Jungwirth, export manager at Lakefront Brewery, who have a history of doing business in Ukraine. Pravda’s anti-Putin dry-hopped golden ale, “Putin Huylo,” (translated as “Putin is a dickhead”) is on hold while the brewery switched from brewing craft beer to making Molotov cocktails in the fight against advancing Russian Troops. “We sold out our initial run of 2,000 labels on the first day, and have since sold nearly five thousand crowlers to date.”
