Lost Worlds Community Partner Corn Hole Tournament Set for August 14th

There are many ways we support and celebrate our Community Partners in our taproom and throughout the community. We’ve added a Corn Hole Tournament to the mix where four of our partners will compete against each other in a friendly (cut-throat!) competition on Sunday, August 14th at 4pm.

“The Corn Hole Tournament is a fun way to shine a spotlight on the work each organization does in our community,” says Lost Worlds founder, Dave Hamme. “We hope people will come out, cheer on the teams in support of their work, and drink local craft beer!”

A portion of the proceeds on August 18th will be donated to the winning organization. The four teams in this year’s charity corn hole tournament include American Foreign Academic Research, Carolina Raptor Center, Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center, and Pounding for Parker.

Let’s introduce the line-up!

American Foreign Academic Research, more commonly recognized as AFAR, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of archaeological field research, cultural site preservation, and the belief that science can be advanced through the education and outreach of professionals and non-professionals alike. AFAR has been based at Davidson Day School since 2010.

Carolina Raptor Center ignites imaginations and inspires engagement in the natural world through the exploration and rehabilitation of birds of prey. The Carolina Raptor Center exhibits meet visitors through concepts that they understand in order to activate them to protect the natural world in new and creative ways. The Jim Arthur Raptor Medical Center treats 900-1,000 birds a year, releasing almost 70% back into the wild.

Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center coordinates the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of the most severe cases of child abuse in Mecklenburg County. As the only child advocacy center in Charlotte, Pat’s Place serves children from birth through age 18. All healing services that children need – forensic interviews, medical care, advocacy support and counseling – are provided by experienced child abuse professionals in one safe location at no cost to a child’s family. Last year in 2021, Pat’s Place served more than 700 children including their caregivers, who were sexually abused, physically abused, or who had witnessed a violent crime.

Pounding For Parker Foundation is dedicated to advancing research for pediatric brain tumors and improving the quality of life of childhood cancer survivors. The Foundation focuses on pediatric care and bringing a local focus of pediatric brain tumors. The Pounding for Parker Foundation focuses are on better serving pediatric brain tumor patients with the lack of options for treatment and supporting quality of life post-treatment.

Lost Worlds Brewing Company is a proud community partner and supporter of these organizations. We strive to bring awareness about our community nonprofit programs whether we are interacting with our audience inside and outside the brewery. Hope to see you August 18th!
