Meet Adventure Guide, Erin V!

You may have seen a few new faces in our taproom recently. It’s time to get to know one of our new Adventure Guides – meet Erin! She’s made a quick impact and is a big believer in our guest services model in a 5-star Yelp kinda-way.

Erin knows a thing or two about the Lake Norman area, she grew up in the Charlotte/Cornelius area. In fact, she used to rent movies from the Blockbuster Video that pre-dated Lost Worlds Brewing in its heyday back in the late-90s/early 2000’s.

After living in Chicago for the last 4 years, she recently moved back to the area she calls home. While taking a break from teaching, she funneled her love for the brewery vibe into a job she truly loves. Here’s what she had to say in her own words…

When you decided to seek out breweries to work for, why did you reach out to Lost Worlds?

I had stopped in a few times when I was back in-town visiting my family and I loved the atmosphere. So when I moved back and saw that they were looking to hire an Adventure Guide, I was very excited, and happy I got the position.

What do you enjoy most about working at Lost Worlds?

I have really enjoyed getting to know the other adventure guides and all the customers who come in! The team we have at Lost Words makes the shifts a lot of fun!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I like to spend time with my family and friends. I also love spending time outside on the lake paddle boarding or just floating. I missed being close to the Blue Ridge Mountains when I lived in Chicago, so I have been enjoying driving up to the mountains whenever I have a chance.

I am also a big reader! I love a good mystery/thriller book. I am also a big music fan and now that concerts are back I have love going to concerts. This year I have seen Mt. Joy, The Avett Brothers, Luke Combs, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift. I am not picky when it comes to music, I will listen to just about anything!

I also enjoy going to sporting events! Football is my favorite sport to watch, even though it's a tough year to be a Panthers fan.

Tell us about a favorite adventure you've been on.

I have been lucky enough to go on some pretty amazing adventures! Recently, I was out in Montana, which is just an amazing and beautiful state.  But my favorite adventure has to be when I went to Iceland in 2018. My childhood best friend and I were there for 4 days before heading over to Europe. I felt like I was on a completely different planet! The nature there is breathtaking. We explored the black sand beach, walked on the Svínafellsjökull Glacier, and hiked to natural hot springs. I hope to go back one day to see the Aurora Borealis!

What's your favorite event at the brewery?

My favorite weeknight event that we have is Trivia. The crowd is a lot of fun! I love to try and answer the questions. The bartender under questions always brings a laugh to the taproom! Music Bingo night is also a lot of fun! And, our most recent Oktoberfest event was a BLAST!

Do you have a favorite food truck?

Muchachos Tacos and Fat Guy and a Pie are two of my favorites!

What's your favorite style of beer?

I really enjoy wheat beers. Our Blackberry Emmer is my current favorite
