Proud to Partner with Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks Rescue
At Lost Worlds we celebrate our community partners by raising a glass, helping where we can, and supporting the efforts of non-profits in our community who help make the Lake Norman area a better place to live. Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks (CBHBB) is one of four active community partners, including the Carolina Raptor Center, AFAR and Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center. You may have seen CBHBB hard at work raising awareness about adoption at one of our events, but here’s a few things you may not know about this active community organization.
Meet CBHBB
Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks (CBHBB) is a local organization that helps educate about responsible pet ownership and strives to save the lives of as many dogs as possible, especially large breed dogs that are sometimes harder to find homes.. They have a huge community of volunteers and fosters that help find these dogs a forever home.
“Fostering bridges the dog’s old life to their new life,” says Suzy Blocker, co-founder of CBHBB. “Animal shelters are an extremely stressful situation for dogs to be living in 24/7. So, by fostering our dogs in homes, they are happier and more adjusted to their future home!”

The Most Rewarding Career
There are many rewarding experiences with being a part of Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks. “My favorite part is seeing dogs with severe illnesses being nursed back to health with our help and flourish at their new homes,” says Suzy. Suzy, Lisa and Pat hold their dogs close to their heart as if they were their own and continually check up on their adopted dogs Facebook group.
As part of the partnership with Lost Worlds, Big Hearts Big Barks hosted a Pet First Aid Class at the brewery that was open to all pet owners. Guests learned pet safety and proper pet care and enjoyed craft beer after the event. As part of the partnership, CBHBB adoptable dogs are displayed on a taproom television and the group raises awareness through special events at the brewery. “Everyone ordering a beer at the bar will see our adoptable dogs. We get so much interest and awareness of Big Hearts Big Barks from this,” says Suzy.
“Most of our guests bring their dogs to the Biergarten so partnering with Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks seemed like a natural connection between caring for our dogs at Lost Worlds and CBHBB caring for their dogs,” says Dave Hamme, co-founder of Lost Worlds Brewing. “It’s a partnership we’re proud to be part of and an organization that our community needs.”
