The Story

In the local ancient Maya Mythology from Palenque, Mexico, Matawil is the birthing place of the gods – a location steeped in mystery. Matawil connects the genesis of the origins of the word god and the word libated as in an offering. Simply stated – Matawil Mexican Lager is an elixir of the gods – promising yet mysterious. Matawil is for those moments when fortuitous signs lurk just around the corner.

The Discovery

A Mexican Lager is a take on the classic style of the German Vienna Lager. Our Matwil (pronounced Ma-ta- will) Mexican Lager follows the style with a twist. It is copper in color and delivers a slight corn malt sweetness from the addition of flaked maize. And then.. we pushed in the subtle hint of fresh lime aroma from Motueka hops we sourced from New Zealand.
