Meet Adventure Guide, Miguel!

When we add to our team of amazing Adventure Guides, there are certain qualities we look for and Miguel checks all the boxes! His extensive experience in the hotel and restaurant industry is what makes him a great leader in our organization. But, it’s his love of the outdoors that makes him fit in!

Originally from the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas. he grew up on a farm and had a passion for farming and mechanics. Miguel lived and went to school in San Antonio for a short time in his early adult life, and shortly after, moved to Houston, where he started his career in hospitality. He spent nearly 10 years perfecting his skills in the industry before moving to North Carolina.  Meet Miguel!

What is it about this industry that keeps you in it and what is it about your personality and skill set that makes this a good fit for you?

I’ve stayed in this industry so long and will continue because of the interactions. I really do consider all guests as my friends and there’s pride when it comes to serving them. As far as skill set, I would have to say that my positive attitude and honest curiosity of others makes this industry a good fit. It’s not only about serving guests but about getting to meet new friends.

How did you come about getting your job at Lost Worlds?

I live just down the street and had visited the taproom before applying. The welcoming staff and stories behind the brand captured my interest!

What's your favorite part about being an Adventure Guide?

My favorite part about being an Adventure Guide is getting a repeat customer. Knowing that they want to spend their time and hang out with us it’s what it’s all about — making new friends.

Have you been on any adventures lately that you'd like to share?

We try to get out to the mountains or beach any chance we get. There’s no actual planning when it comes to our trips, it’s very impulsive.

What's the one thing you can't live without?

Well, there’s definitely no material item I can think of so I’ll take this question in a more literal form and say ‘food’. Throw my family and I on and island with nothing and I’ll make it work out.

What's your favorite style of beer, and favorite lost worlds beer?

My favorite style of beer is an Amber Ale but I find myself drinking a lot of IPAs, and my favorite Lost Worlds’ beer is Vista.
