The Importance of Community, and our First Charity Partner.

This American Pale Ale is more than a tasty brew, it’s a recipe for giving back to our community.

This American Pale Ale is more than a tasty brew, it’s a recipe for giving back to our community.

For the past month, while our brewery is being built, we have been fortunate enough to participate in “collaboration brews” with other craft brewers in the area. Rock Hill Brewing and Catawba Brewing Company are two we recently partnered with and there are more in the works (stay tuned).

Our friends across craft breweries have been instrumental in our start-up. And core to that is the local community that we all call home. They are the organizations in our community that carry the load of making our neighborhoods better and safer places to live. We’re one big community, and craft breweries have the potential to be strong partners for non-profit organizations.

So, naturally when it came time to release our first beer, Worlds Collide, in the Catawba Tasting Room, both breweries wanted a community partner to benefit from the proceeds. The choice was simple…

Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center is the charity of choice for our first beer release event. Proceeds from the collaboration brew, Worlds Collide, will benefit this important community partner.

“I’ve worked with Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center over the years.” says Dave Hamme, Lost Worlds Co-founder. “When it came time to identify the beneficiary of the collaboration, supporting Pat’s Place was the obvious choice. Few organizations deal with the challenge of advocating for one of the most fragile elements of our society - our children. Both breweries have a passion for giving back to our community, which made this collaboration more than a recipe for an American Pale Ale - it’s what can happen when worlds collide.”

About Pat’s Place

Since 2005, Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center has worked to coordinate the investigation and treatment of the most serious cases of child abuse in Mecklenburg County. All the services children need – forensic interviews, medical care, advocacy support and counseling – are now offered under one roof in a safe, child-friendly location. Pat’s Place is modeled on the simple but powerful concept of coordination between community agencies and professionals involved in the system of child protection.
