Meet Adventure Guide, Brittany: A Creative Force in the Taproom
If you’ve ever stepped into the taproom and been greeted with a big smile, some epic art on the A-frame, or a great beer recommendation, chances are you’ve met Brittany. She’s an adventure-loving, book-reading, special-effects-makeup-artist IPA fan who makes every shift feel like a party.
From growing up between California and South Carolina to off-roading in the mountains of Hawaii, Brittany has always been drawn to new experiences—and that’s exactly what she loves about working at Lost Worlds. She graduated from University of South Carolina with a degree in Psychology. She spent a few years after graduation as a Technical Recruiter, but left to pursue real estate and got a part time job as a bartender. It was there that she developed her love for beer and making new friends in the taproom. Grab a pint and get to know Brittany! From her favorite Lost Worlds beer to her ultimate food truck pick, she’s spilling all the details in this fun Q&A.
If there is a typical day/night in the taproom, what does that look like?
There’s no such thing as a typical day, for everyday brings something or someone totally new in this industry. However, our days usually consist of a ton of laughter. We Adventurer Guides love to joke with regulars and new customers alike, and it makes for a fun filled environment every day. Sometimes you’ll find me doodling on our A-frames to display the new beers!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have quite a few hobbies I obsess over when I’m not in the taproom. Whenever I have a spare moment, I’m usually reading. I love the fantasy genre! I also play video games, draw, or I transform myself into some sort of monster using Special FX makeup. Anything that involves creativity gets me going!
What attracted you to the craft beer industry and what keeps it interesting?
I’ve always had an interest in beer and when I wanted a part time job, it just seemed like a good fit at the time. Little did I know how much fun it was actually going to be. You develop amazing relationships with your coworkers, and you make great friends in guests! Nothing warms my heart quite like people who return just to see me! The guest interactions each day definitely keep it interesting. You get to hear so many crazy stories and you get to learn so much about people.
f you had to eat at the same food truck all week, which one would it be?
I will never not eat Fat Guy and a Pie. As soon as I see their truck outside, I do a little dance. They’re so good!
Do you have a favorite style of beer and favorite Lost Worlds beer?
My favorite style of beer has always been IPAs! I love a nice juicy hazy. However, despite my favorite style of beer being totally different, I LOVE our Cassia Spiced Ale. It’s like a Winter hug.
Did you make any new year's resolutions, if so care to share?
I did make a New Year’s resolution! It was to focus on my health as well as get out and be with friends and family. I’ve been too much of a home body!
What's the best adventure you've ever been on?
My favorite adventure has to be my trip to Hawaii. I got to try amazing food with the most stunning view. I woke up every morning to a beautiful rainbow. However the best part was off-roading in the mountains where I got to the top and planted a new tree. I sailed, snorkeled, and swam with sharks and sea turtles! I learned so much about conservation and Hawaiian culture, I just felt lucky to be there!
